On Thursday, we went to the Animal Kingdom with everyone. Peggy had so much fun watching Nemo the musical, and seeing Flik from A Bug's Life. The animal safari was good too. The only thing we missed was The Lion King, but it was closed due to technical difficulties. Enjoy the pics.

On Monday night, we all went back to Magic Kingdom for a dessert party and fireworks show. It really was one of the highlights of the trip for everyone. We ate yummy desserts and watched the fireworks from a restaurant so we didn't have to stand in a huge crowd. Everyone had so much fun. After the fireworks show, we rode Peter Pan's Flight and It's A Small World with everyone. Peggy was pooped at the end of this day! She fell asleep and didn't move all night.

It's Dora!!

Peg wanted to be Dora for Halloween this past year so reluctantly, I ordered the Dora costume. I wasn't surprised in the least bit by its cheap, plastic nature. She wouldn't keep the wig on so I steered her towards another adorable costume, the bee. She only agreed to become a bee after she saw an episode of Dora dressed as a bee for Halloween. We ended up keeping the Dora costume and she now uses it as a dress-up outfit. The wig cracks me up. Enjoy!

Peggy returned to school last Wednesday after a 2.5 week break for the holidays. We had a great time this year together as a family. Steven took time off this year, Usually, he just takes Christmas day and maybe Christmas Eve. We actually had him at home for the majority of the time. In fact, we had so much fun that little Peg has been reluctant to return to school. I don't know if it is the carpool line that she just started in on Mondays and Wednesdays or just a case of 'I want my mom.' Anyhow, check out these super-cute pics of Peg the first day back. This past Saturday morning, we went to see Santa at the zoo. It was so much fun! We ate breakfast with Santa and then went to tell him what P wants. I have also included a pic from our first impromptu Santa visit when Gram bought her tree. He was there greeting families so P got to see Santa twice this year! Enjoy the pics! For the second year, we ventured to the Summit for the tree lighting and parade. I almost forgot but then Laura Ann saved the day at the last moment by calling us on her way there. Peggy went to the last Alabama home game with Grandaddy. Peggy loves to go and has the best time. Grandaddy takes her on the field with the cheerleaders and to see Big Al. Statue Of Liberty- Liberty Park Style (And The Vulcan)

About three weeks ago, a new obsession began at our house. My mom brought Peg a Statue Of Liberty ornament from her trip last summer. Peggy wasn't very interested at first. We talked about her and watched a few You Tube videos. Then, Peggy saw the replica at Liberty Park on the way to Kindermusik one day. Since then, we have been visiting the statue several times a week complete with getting out of the car and looking at her. We watch You Tube videos and talk about her. When we were in Homewood two weeks ago, Peg insisted on going to Vulcan, which she has now decided isn't as pretty as Lady Liberty. This is so funny that our friend Brandi even brought Peg a cookie cutter of Lady Liberty. We have had a blast with Play-dough and the cutter. All of this from Peggy, the two year old. On Halloween night, we went with a bunch of our friends to the Fleming's house for a party and to trick-or-treat on their fun street in Homewood, West Glenwood. Peggy went to her very first Alabama game this past Saturday. Grandaddy was dying to take her so we met Sassy and Grandaddy with Peggy at Denny Chimes Saturday afternoon. Needless to say, Peggy had a blast. Before this weekend, she was teetering on being a full-fledged Alabama fan. Now much to her father's delight, she is one. She loves everything about Alabama. She got to go on the field and see Big Al and the cheerleaders. Had the game not been at 6:30, I think she would have made it through the whole thing. We left after half-time sine she was worn out. Thanks,Grandaddy. You have a very happy and very excited little Alabama fan in our house. Sad for me but mission accomplished for Daddy. War Eagle anyway!!

The Second Time Around

Peggy is so blessed to have this awesome swingset that was a hand-me-down from her cousins, Gracie and Mac. When the Loves made plans to move, the fate of the swingset was in question. Gracie and Mac aren't the swingset age any longer and Michelle and Chuck couldn't bear leaving behind something that had meant so much to their children. So, we decided to take it. With plans to move it in July, we thought it would make a perfect second birthday present. It just needed a little staining and cleaning and then it would be good as new. Then, the installers came to get it and bring it to us. That is when the fun began. We learned that several pieces of the ground wood were rotten. While this swingset came with a lifetime warranty, the paperwork was long-gone, so that meant all repairs and parts would be out of pocket and expensive. So, for the next two months, I tried to get it covered with no success. Then, with the Loves' move reaching completion, we had to get it out of their yard. The installers were able to replace just a few pieces and make it work. It ended up costing us a little more, but not too much. Finally, we have a fully functional swingset in our backyard. It comes with many memories but has room for many more. Peggy loves the set and we now start many days here. I know her friends will enjoy it also. We still need to clean it up but overall, it is awesome!!!

Monday night, Peggy and I went to Anniston to watch Gracie cheer at her first JV game of the season. She did an awesome job!!! My Erin Condren Life Planner arrived last night. I must give a little background on this wonderful thing. I am always looking for THE planner. I have tried DayRunner, DayTimer, Franklin Covey, MomAgenda, and even made one myself. Although all of these had great attributes, they all lacked one thing on another. I would always tell myself, "If only my planner had this feature...." Welcome to Erin Condren!! (You can purchase the Life Planner at www.erincondren.com. Erin makes stationery, labels, and paper goods as well.) This one takes the cake. First, it is colorful, current and beautiful! It has both month at a glance and week at a glance sections. It also has to do lists and goals for each week. Additionally, there are lined sections throughout for notes, etc. The best part of this is the pocket and the zip pouch. There have been countless times when I just wanted to grab a pen and my planner. I always lose the pen. Not anymore! I can just place it in the zip pouch. There also is a section with stickers you can place throughout. There are some blank stickers too you can use to customize to your liking. The most awesome feature is the tabbed monthly view. No more flipping looking for a certain month. The only things this planner does not have is: an address section. Erin Condren makes an address book that I plan on purchasing when my One Kings Lane codes get here. The planner would be just too think with an address section as well. This is the problem I always faced with Franklin Covey. (and it was not cute). Enjoy the pictures! End Of Summer Beach Getaway

Steven, me, Peggy, Gracie, Mac, and Michelle went to the beach for an end of summer getaway. Gracie and Mac started school the Wednesday after this trip so it was a good bye to summer in more ways than one. We were only there for three nights and honestly, with Peg, that is plenty for the age and stage she is now. Laura Ann, Jon, and Emilyn were there also at the DeWaards' beach house. We didn't get to see them a ton even though we were around the corner, literally. Peggy wasn't feeling super great on this trip since she was just getting over Hand, Foot, and Mouth. This made it difficult to have any planned activities. We did have a great time and enjoyed being together. I wish I had taken more photos but I just didn't feel like lugging it everywhere with me. Peggy's Birthday Party

On Saturday, July 30th, we hosted a gymnastics party for Peggy's birthday at Mountain Brook Gymnastics. Peg began gymnastics here last spring and I knew this party would be so much fun for her! All of her friends came and it was a blast!!! The colors were a little on the bright side but by the time I realized that, it was too late to change things. I bought a party package from Etsy with the artwork for the labels, juice boxes, and cupcakes. My package did not come with party hats so I made them myself. Tiger

It took me a few days to get up the strength to write this. My sweet Tiger kitty went to live with God on Saturday. Last Thursday, Tiger woke up looking like he was not feeling well. So, we loaded him up and took him to the vet. After two days of observation, Dr. Martin decided we needed to do x-rays to check everything out. Sweet Tiger had some suspicious tissue in his stomach which Dr. Martin removed on Saturday morning. All seemed to be well until I got the call from Dr. Martin on Saturday afternoon that Tiger had just passed away. I have been so sad all week but I must say it is getting better. Violet and Gwen are looking for him and that breaks my heart. Peggy also kept asking to go see Tiger at the hospital since we had been visiting him multiple times a day while he was in treatment. We told Peggy Tiger went to live with God and although she doesn't really understand, she seems okay with it. (She told her MDO teacher about it and her friends.) Fast forward to this past Thursday when I got another call from Dr. Martin telling me that the pathology report came back positive for Lymphoma. When I heard this news, it made me feel a little better that Tiger had passed away. I did not want him to suffer anymore. I would have been torn to pieces if it was Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Even though Tiger is no longer with us, he will always be a part of our family. In his latter years, I did not spend enough time with him. I will never, ever forget all of the late night cuddles with my Tiger kitty. He used to get under the covers and lie on my tummy. He had the most annoying loud meow that would make you feel as if someone had just scratched a chalkboard. I could really go on and on about him. Thank you Tiger, for making me a happy owner for fourteen years. You got me through a lot of tough times. We miss you and love you.

Emilyn Is Two

Please forgive me since I am so so behind on blog posts. With our Summer schedule so different from Fall, it is difficult to find time to fit everything in, including blogging. It also seems that I have much more to blog about since it is Summer! Anyway, last Saturday we went to Emilyn's second birthday party. All of the kids had a great time! It was the perfect Saturday morning and Laura Ann had everything looking great! I must admit when I was at the party I was in deep thought. How can these babies be two?! They were just babies! Seeing Emilyn and Peggy with their friends made me get the warm and fuzzies but it also made me realize they are growing up. I find myself trying to capture each stage and truly enjoy them. I know I will look back and realize that they were still so small but for now they are looking and acting so grown-up. The change from last year to now is amazing. I thought the changes may slow a bit but they are just different than basic physical changes. Last year at the beach, both girls were barely walking. They did that wobble-walk where a crash may occur any second. Now, they are running and playing with their own thoughts and wants. Even though there are some fits, I love watching these two becoming who they are supposed to be. Enough babbling for today. Enjoy the pics!!

The 21 Day Challenge A Month Too Late- The Medicine Cabinet

Well, I organized the medicine cabinet. I chose to complete all areas on the 21 Day Challenge list but just tackling the most critical first. Our medicine cabinet was a very problematic area for us. We opened the cabinet and well, you never knew what might fly out to greet you. We never could find what we were looking for and it was just a nightmare. So, I took everything out first. Then, I bought some containers that would fit in the space. Lastly, I catergorized the medicines for pain, g.i., ENT, and coughh/cold. We are so happy with the results. No more flying bottles and we can find everything.

Father's Day was a special day at our house this year. Not only was it Emilyn's second birthday but also the day of Peggy's first ever visit to the theatre! We went to the Edge in Crestwood to see Kung Fu Panda Two in 3D. I am happy to report that she did great (besides the glasses) and we almost made it through the entire movie!! Steven was about to bust to take her to the theatre. For a few months now, Steven has been introducing movies to Peggy in hopes that she will give up Dora, Barney, and Max And Ruby. She still loves watching these but she is enjoying the movies now with her current obsession being Panda and Schrek. (may have ms that one). We are all looking forward to Puss And Boots the movie this fall (he's the cat in Schrek). Hopefully, PP will make it to the end of that one since she will be a little older. Enjoy the pics.!!

On Wednesday, Peg and I went to Anniston to swim with the Loves. It was so hot in our house since we had painters there with ALL of the windows open. Peggy had so much fun and even told me once, "No Mommy, go away!" Gracie and her friends love Peggy. It's amazing to me that they think a small child is so much fun. Peggy especially had fun with Vivian, one of my sister's friend Lucy's children. They played in the kiddie pool most of the day. Enjoy!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

On Sunday, we went to Robby and Tara's beautiful condo on Lake Martin. They have a super duper awesome pool with a slide and zero entry. The kids all loved it! Banks really loves the water and I know this will make a super-fun Summer for the Johnstons! Peggy was a little scared of the water. This is a new response she has developed. We went to Tallassee for Memorial Weekend and had a great time. We waited until Saturday afternoon to go down so we could run a few errands and miss the traffic. Saturday afternoon, my mom and Jere cooked out and Sassy and Emilyn came over to play in the pool at Gram's house. Let me say the the pool was a last minute addition from WalMart. In my effort to become more organized and run our house more efficiently, I started the 21 Day Challenge. Day 1 was the junk drawer but since I used a computer desk drawer as a junk drawer, I decided to go ahead and just do the desk on day 1. The computer desk is actually the day 2 challenge, so I am not that off. Anyhow, to say that our desk was a mess was an understatement. As I mentioned before, there are brief periods of organization and neatness here, but they always fall by the wayside due to lack of functionality. This time I actually took the time to make sure the desk is functional so it will stay neat and organized. I followed the tips on the blog, A Bowl Full Of Lemons and began my project. I purchased a few things at Target and got busy. This project was fairly easy and very rewarding. Now, we can use our desk not only for a desk but also as our home command center. The other night while I was blog-stalking, I came across the blog, A Bowl Full Of Lemons. This lady has turned her house around and made it awesome. A Night In Anniston And Rodney The Guinea Pig

Last Saturday, Peg and I went to Anniston to visit the Loves so Steven could work on our yard. We had a fun night and, Gracie had a shadow named Peggy the entire day. Below is a picture of Peggy and Gracie having a snack in the garage. It really is just so cute and proves that your never too old or too young to enjoy one another. In other related news, Gracie and Mac have a Guinea Pig named Rodney that has been around for about three years. He doesn't get much attention from the Loves at all. In fact, my sister tried to pawn him off on us. I don't think he would last long at my house. Peggy does love Rodney, though. She wanted to hold him the entire two days we were there. Peggy's Gymnastics Class

Peggy has been taking gymnastics at Mountain Brook Gymnastics this past Spring and will continue on through the Summer and Fall. To say that she loves it is an understatement. Peggy is so happy and in her element when she is at the gym every Friday. She has made some older friends that show her the ropes. Stabler, who is the little girl helping Peggy, is her new best older friend. She loves everything about the gym and Coach Robin is her favorite. Enjoy the pics!

Let The Summer Fun Begin

In an attempt to pass the time yesterday, Peggy and I got our pool out and cleaned it for the summer. Peggy was so excited to be able to get in the pool and I was too since it was in the 90s yesterday for the first time. We literally stayed outside in the pool for hours. I even grilled our dinner while Peg played in the pool. In fact, Peggy had so much fun that she decided to get back in the pool in her clothes after she changed out of her swimsuit. She also managed to get in the pool in her PJs after bath time too. I know the pool will be a hit this year and a much needed diversion for both of us. Last year, Peggy was really too small to enjoy being in the pool for any period of time. This year, I forsee we will spend a good deal of time in the pool. Enjoy the pics.!

Peggy's Art Show

Peggy's school has an art show every May to showcase all of the artwork they completed throughout the year. They still send home small art projects and leave the "good ones" for the show. Peggy loves her friend, Gabby so much. Next year, Peggy and Gabby will not be in the same class since Gabby will be in the younger twos and Peggy in the older twos. Boo. Anyway, enjoy the pictures.

Trey And Blayre's Wedding

Well, they are married. My cousin Trey and his lovely wife, Blayre, tied the knot last night after two long years of planning. For those of you that don't know, Trey was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia last year and had a very tough year last year. Trey is now doing well and this made the wedding that much more special. Blayre was a beautiful bride. And Trey, well, he's Trey. You can get a good idea of his personality from the pictures. Let's just say he never misses a party.

Water Babies

Well, Peg and her friends Emilyn, Harris, and Anne Calvert have been taking swimming lessons at Brookwood for about a month now. They all have loved it so much! I think Anne Calvert is loving it the most since I don't think she's ever had a pool meltdown. Saturday, we had a full day with no time for me to shower between swimming and our Easter Egg Hunt so Steven got in the pool with Peg. Peggy has actually regressed with the swimming. When she started, she loved it and was not afraid to try anything. Now, she just wants to hold on to us for dear life. I hope I get my little fish back! Enjoy the pics!

Well, I'm trying to get better about blogging regularly. I purchased a new lens and flash for my camera so maybe that will inspire me to take more pictures and carry my camera with me more often. This past Saturday, we went to ride Thomas The Train with our dear friends the DeWaards, the Whittens, the Holdens, and the Greers. The kids all had a blast together and so did the parents! It's been a while again! Our lives have not been that exciting lately. We have been hanging out and have been super busy during the week. Peggy will start gymnastics this Monday. I know, you are thinking, "What business does a not even two year old have at a gymnastics class? Well, its for babies so we will see how it goes. It was suggested to me by a person who used to teach there. Since Peggy loves to climb and do other daring things, we decided it would be good for her. I have not been a very good blogger this January. I still have to blog about things that happened over a month ago but since Peg has only gone to MDO two days this month, I have had no time. The day after Kelley and Matt's wedding, we went to Steven's Aunt Ann and Uncle Andy's home for a late Christmas celebration. We couldn't get together over the holidays so we met that Sunday. Kelley And Matt's Wedding

This past weekend, Kelley, who is my sister-in-law's sister, got married in Atlanta at the historic Biltmore. The Biltmore used to be a hotel that first opened in 1924. It burned and was damaged but not destroyed. Sometime in the 80s, it fell into disrepair and was closed. Recently, it has been renovated. The former hotel part was converted into private homes while the remaining ballrooms and event space was once up and running as just that, ballrooms. Sorry for all of the history on the Biltmore but you really have to see this place. For anyone who appreciates Wedgewood Jasperware, The Biltmore Ballrooms are a must see. The work here is unbelievable. One ballroom is the Wedgewood Blue room. This is the ballroom in which the wedding ceremony was. It looks exactly like Wedgewood Blue Jasperware. The cocktail hour was held in the Yellow themed Jasperware room. We then migrated into the Green Jasperware themed room for dinner and dancing. This room was off the charts. I could hardly believe my eyes. Not only was the event space beautiful but the space was beautifully appointed as well. There was a nice twist of modern and traditional. Anyway, enjoy the pics. The windows, columns, and of course, the Jasperware-esque ceiling work made my weekend!By the way, Kelley was a beautiful bride and we all had a great time!!

Well, I have not done a good job posting in 2011! We went to Anniston for New Years since we didn't see Scott and fam or Clay and Lesley over Christmas. Clay and Lesley were in Virginia for Christmas and Scott was in the ATL with bad weather so we couldn't get to each other. It was an uneventful night. I was in bed by ten reading the end of Fannie Flagg's latest. Steven left the next day and he missed some fun. I'll post about the wig next.

Christmas Snow

Well, the dream of every child in Alabama and the Southeast for that matter came true this Christmas. Snow! Not a huge amount but just enough to give us all that warm and fuzzy winter feeling. The years we lived in Cincinnati, we experienced a good bit of snow. The Jones family got used to the whole snow thing and it really wasn't a big deal at all. We still went to school and work. Years later and in back in Alabama, I still get so excited about the snow. We just don't get it here and if we do, it usually is just a dusting. Enjoy the pics from Saturday and Sunday. It was like a commercial to me when I looked at the pics. Just to correct all of the weather men, on December 25th, 1989, we had a snow shower in the ATL. The Jones family was in Atlanta for Christmas with my Pop-Pop and I clearly remember waking up and looking out of the bathroom window to the white snow. It didn't last long but then again, gave me that warm and fuzzy winter feeling. Merry Christmas!!!

Here we are with Steven's family for Christmas. After Christmas Eve worship at Canterbury, we came to the DeWaard house for our annual dinner and presents. I must say, this year was much more fun since the girls enjoyed opening stuff. It sill was crazy but I think everyone had a great time!!! The best part of the night was not all of the great stuff we all received (thanks LA, Sassy, Granddaddy, Jon, and Steven) but the thoughts that came to me: We are so blessed to all be healthy and happy, to love each other and truly enjoy the company of one another, and that Peg and Em are so lucky to have each other to go through life with. Peggy, The Present Bandit

Peggy has been very very good about leaving the trees and presents alone during this Christmas season. We put our decor out the first week of December and I really expected her to be in to everything. Well, that was until this week. We found her little cute tree crashed on its side atleast ten times in her room. We tried everything to get her to stop and I guess the lack of reaction from us finally worked. This past week Peggy also started carrying around presents and trying to sneak off and open them. I caught her with one for Laura Ann that had been opened. She also opened one for Sassy. I began monitoring her time by the trees so this would stop. We then would talk about how a certain present was for a special person. Then, she began carrying the present and pointing to it while saying the receipent's name. Peg seemed to stop the present swiping until I found her here on Christmas Eve morning before leaving for brunch at LAs house.

Reading In My Red Umbrella Stroller

For those of you that know Peggy very well, you know she doesn't care much for a stroller. She does enjoy the BOB but only at speeds I'm uncapable of achieving. When my mom kept her two weeks ago, she let Peggy get in her doll stroller and pushed her around our house. She kept wanting to get back in the doll stroller. It looks like the straps would break any second. I then went into our garage and got our red umbrella stroller that Peg has NEVER ridden in.
