Snow 2009
Well......Steven and I were at a youth retreat all weekend and awoke to this. About ten o' clock, we decided to go to church to help wrap things up. The rodes were passable when we left. We were only at the church for about 20 minutes. If any of you know about the roads in Mountain Brook, they are no good on a clear day. We drove from church to our house which is usually about a 5-10 minute drive in the L gear. Now, I think we topped out at 5 mph. We couldn't stop at stop signs at all. There is one road we have to take from our house to the church called Overcrest Road. This road is basically over a mountain crest with about a 70-100 foot drop off on one side. Needless to say, we had to drive this road which only had one lane that was passable which was the left lane. The anti-lock breaks and the skid lights were sounding in Steven's car. I just knew we were going off the road and into who knows what. Then, after that near death experience, we made it through the other roads to our house. There was so much ice on the roads that we could not make it up the road we live on. So, we parked at the end of our street and walked up to our house. I must say that I have lived where snow falls (Ohio) and people go about their lives. However, these roads were crazy. Just imagine mountain roads. That is how most of the roads are where we live. Anyhow, the roads are clear and most of the snow is gone. Enjoy the pics.
